A number of years ago, a group of people created a fundraiser for a terminally ill member of our community. Inspired by their actions, I approached one of the volunteers and asked a few questions. She was incredibly humble and sought no recognition. Her only purpose was to create awareness for her friend who was sick. This website is dedicated to those who choose to do good in our community, never seeking recognition, but whose stories ought to be told and shared.
We recognize many of our community members would prefer to work behind the scenes, never seeking glory for themselves. Still, we believe the following to be true as well…
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people don’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
You see, too often, the only narrative offered is one of trial and tribulation… from stories about drugs and crime to poverty and scarcity. Instead, we hope to shine a light on a community that has much more to offer than many might think… to show appreciation to our neighbors who are more engaged and involved than ever before… and to provide stories that inspire a new generation of M&M citizens.
And if you receive a SHOUT-OUT from a neighbor or friend, you’ll receive a short survey from us. Please complete it and grant us permission to tell your story and share your comments.
Thank you in advance.
